131789200 Timer for Frigidaire Dryer
What does the 131789200 timer do?
This electromechanical timer sequences the dryer's cycle: a small internal motor slowly advances a set of cams that open and close switch contacts, energizing the drive motor and heating circuit at the right stages of the cycle. It is a distinct component from an electronic control board.
Common symptoms of a failing timer
The timer knob does not advance during the cycle; the cycle never ends; the dryer stops partway and will not resume; certain knob positions are dead while others work; the heater or motor fails to engage only in specific cycle positions.
How to check the 131789200 timer
With the dryer unplugged, use the model's wiring diagram and timer chart to identify which contact pairs should be closed at a given knob position, then check those pairs for continuity with a multimeter. Avoid live probing — the contact-path method with the appliance's own service data is the safe approach.
131789200 technical notes
An electromechanical assembly (advance motor plus cam-driven contacts), replaced as a unit rather than repaired. The terminal count and switching chart are model-specific and are not confirmed here. This part is not an electronic control board.
Installation & safety for this timer
Typically mounted in the control console behind the timer knob; access per the model's service data. Note wire positions before disconnecting — terminal layout is model-specific.
Unplug the dryer before any console or timer work. Do not probe timer terminals with the appliance energized.
131789200 error codes
No dedicated error code expected: an electromechanical timer has no self-diagnostic display. Failure shows mechanically — a knob that does not advance, a cycle that never ends, or dead cycle positions — rather than as a displayed code.
