DD34-00002A Door Switch for Samsung Dishwasher
What does the DD34-00002A door switch do?
This is a door-latch microswitch that signals the control board when the dishwasher door is fully closed and securely latched. The control will not start or continue a cycle unless this switch reports the door closed, and the switch is also part of the interlock that helps prevent the door from being opened mid-cycle.
Common symptoms of a failing door switch
The door may appear to close and latch normally, but the dishwasher will not start a cycle. The control panel may stay dark, or the cycle/lock indicator may behave as if the door were still open even though it is closed. A cycle may also fail to begin or may stop partway through, consistent with the door interlock not being satisfied.
How to check the DD34-00002A door switch
With the dishwasher unplugged, the switch terminals can be probed with a multimeter set to resistance — a reading of zero or near-zero ohms with the door in the closed/actuated position indicates the internal contacts are closing correctly, while a different (open-circuit) reading indicates the switch has failed.
DD34-00002A technical notes
The hyphenated form DD34-00002A is the form used consistently across independent manufacturer and distributor documentation; an unhyphenated form sometimes seen in internal records is a display-convention variant of the same part, not a different one.
Installation & safety for this door switch
This is a small plastic switch assembly located at the door latch mechanism.
Unplug the dishwasher or shut off its circuit breaker before servicing.
DD34-00002A error codes
Model-dependent related codes: dC / dE — door open or door not recognized as closed. Samsung service information identifies a defective door-lock switch as one possible cause; door alignment or an incompletely closed door can produce the same symptom.
