Appliance Parts North — Photos & User Content Policy
This policy applies to all photos and text that sellers upload to Appliance Parts North (APN), operated by ELECTROFIABLE inc. It is referenced by the Seller Terms and the Offer Policy.
1. Real photos of the actual part
1.1 Photos must show the actual item offered, not a stock image, a catalog rendering, a similar part, or a part from another lot.
1.2 For open-box and used parts, real photos are mandatory. For new parts, real photos are strongly recommended.
1.3 White or plain light background is preferred. Show the whole part, its label or reference marking where present, and any defect, wear or missing element.
2. Technical limits
- Formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP.
- Size: up to 10 MiB per file.
- Number: up to 12 photos per Offer.
- APN resizes uploads to a maximum of 2000 px on the longest side. Conversion to WebP is planned for a future version.
- Files are stored as private attachments; APN generates the versions displayed publicly.
3. Upload rights and licence to APN
3.1 You must own the photos and text you upload or hold the rights needed to use them. Do not upload images taken from other sellers, manufacturers, or websites without permission.
3.2 By uploading, you grant APN a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, resize, crop, convert, cache and distribute your content on APN pages, Offers, search results, and communications about your Offers, for as long as the content or the related Offer is retained under section 7.
3.3 You keep ownership of your content. The licence does not allow APN to sell your photos to third parties as such.
4. Misleading photos
Prohibited: photos of a different item; edited photos that hide defects; photos implying OEM origin for a compatible part; photos of packaging alone when the part is used; reused photos across several Offers for different physical items.
5. Prohibited private information
Photos and text must not contain: names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mails, or account identifiers of any person (including your own private details unless you have opted in to public phone display in your profile); documents, invoices, shipping labels or serial data that identify a person; images of people; or any third party’s private information. Only your public seller name and city/region are meant to be public.
6. Moderation and removal
6.1 Content is accepted automatically on the clean path. Human review happens only by exception (report, data conflict, suspected abuse). See the Offer Policy.
6.2 APN may remove, hide, or request replacement of any photo or text that breaches this policy, the Seller Terms, or the law. Repeated breaches are handled under the graduated enforcement of the Seller Terms (warning, correction required, forced pause, suspension, termination); fraud, safety issues or serious abuse may lead to an immediate measure.
6.3 If APN removes content, the seller is notified in the seller dashboard.
6.4 Photo changes after an Offer is promoted.
- Adding photos is a class A change: it takes effect immediately, without human review (normal validation and limits still apply).
- Replacing or removing photos is a class B change: the Offer stays the same and is re-evaluated automatically. On the clean path there is no human review; a real exception leads to review or a correction request.
- An Offer must always keep at least one real photo of the actual item; open-box and used parts always require real photos. A change that would leave an Offer without a real photo is refused.
- Non-substantial narratives (key selling points, additional description, installation tips) are class A; substantial narratives (test method, known defects, donor appliance or model, warranty details) are class B. See the Offer Policy, section 15.
7. Retention
7.1 Photos and text remain stored while the Offer is Draft, Submitted, Needs correction, Active, Paused, or Suspended.
7.2 When an Offer is Archived, Rejected, or removed, its content is retained for and then deleted or anonymized.
7.3 Content attached to a completed sale may be retained longer where required for order records.
8. Reporting
Anyone may report a photo or text that appears misleading, infringing, or containing private information.
Photographs supporting a refused or reduced refund. Where a seller refuses or reduces a refund after inspecting a returned part, the photographs the seller provides are kept in the APN return file for that return, and the reason is communicated to the buyer. Those photographs are used for that purpose only and are not published on the Platform.
