Shipping — Appliance Parts North
This page explains how shipping works for orders placed on Appliance Parts North (“APN”). Returns, refunds and warranties are covered by the Returns, Refunds and Warranty framework; this page does not repeat it.
1. Shipping only at launch
Fulfillment is by shipping only at this stage of the Platform; pickup is not currently available. A historical offer that is not available for shipping is displayed as “Not available for shipping” and cannot be purchased.
2. Shipping rates (Canada Post)
The Platform computes a live Canada Post rate for each shipment from the seller’s origin postal code (kept private) and the packaged weight stated on the offer (dimensions optional). The seller does not choose the carrier and does not set the shipping cost.
3. What the buyer pays
The buyer sees the computed shipping rate at checkout and pays it with the order.
4. Handling time and carrier transit
Each offer states a handling time chosen by the seller — 1, 2 or 3 business days — displayed as “Ships within N business days”. The handling time is the delay before the shipment is handed to the carrier; carrier transit time is additional. Neither APN nor the seller promises a delivery date.
5. Tracking
A tracking number is required for the seller to mark a shipment as shipped. Who buys the carrier label depends on the shipping choice recorded on the offer — see section 9. The buyer sees the shipment status and tracking on the order page.
6. Shipment notifications
The buyer receives one shipment e-mail per vendor-order shipment.
7. Multi-seller orders
An order containing items from several sellers is split into independent per-seller vendor orders; shipments may arrive separately, each with its own handling time and tracking.
8. Seller location
Only the seller’s city and region or province are public; the exact address and the origin postal code are never displayed. The origin postal code is used only to compute shipping rates.
9. Who buys the shipping label — two named choices
For each offer, the seller records how the parcel will be shipped. Both choices are legitimate business choices; neither is a fallback for the other.
APN Shipping. APN buys the Canada Post label for the shipment and makes it available to the seller, who prints it and ships the parcel. The real cost of that label is charged to the seller.
Seller Own Shipping. The seller chooses and pays their own carrier, then records the carrier and the tracking number on the Platform.
The choice belongs to the offer, so it is already fixed before the buyer pays, and it is recorded with the sale: a later change to the offer never changes how an order already placed is handled. One seller cannot combine the two choices inside the same order — such an order is refused in full, and neither choice is ever applied automatically in place of the other. Different sellers in the same order may use different choices.
